What do i do (overactive bladder)?

I have an overactive bladder and have problems containing urine during the night. The doctor prescribed a medication that would help slow down urine production but my mom won't let me take the medicine due to its side effects (i suffer from almost every side effect from almost every medication). She doesn't want the side effects to have an affect on me during the school year and she would rather try the medication out over the summer. Should i wear a diaper to sleep?
